I Used To Love High-ticket Coaching:
I’ll never forget the first time I closed a $72,000 sale in the DMs. Didn’t even have to hop
on a sales call to close it. It was SUCH a shot of adrenaline.
And that student? After a year of working with me, she hit (and, more importantly,
maintained) $60,000 months as her steady baseline monthly revenue.
I was making over a million dollars per year and was genuinely happy. I loved my
students, they loved me. They were all getting results (which is rare, I feel, most
coaches can’t get any kind of results for their students. But mine were!)
I had a few coaching calls per week (3 or 4 usually.) I had a team of 12 part-time
independent contractors that helped me run everything. I was in a mastermind myself
and loved the community there.
My social media was growing and stuff was just very consistent and predictable. I never
made less than $100,000 per month and it all felt good.
It’s the dream all the business coaches sell, right? Sell high-ticket coaching, do a
good job, have happy customers, make a great impact.
Except, then I had a baby.
And everything changed.
Now, All I Want Is Time Freedom
Something instantly shifted as soon as I met my daughter. Sitting for an entire hour on a
coaching call answering the same questions over and over again seemed…bland.
Probably not the best thing to say out loud but it’s true. And it caused a really big
identity crisis because my business had been my baby for 10 years. And I LOVED it.
So to instantly fall out of love with the entire machine I had spent 10 years building was
a mindf*ck, to say the least.
I realized that I really needed to change how I was making money or I would burn out
and crash. We’ve seen big people in my industry need to take year long sabbaticals (if
not entirely go out of business!) because they didn’t honor that nudge to change things
up.
So I decided that I was going to ONLY sell low-ticket products. ($997 and under.)
No more $72k coaching packages. No more showing up to coaching calls.
I was going to make money in the most passive way possible: digital course sales
sold automatically, with 0 work needed from me.
And that’s exactly what I did.
I make nearly $150k (closer to $130k) every single month with ALL low-ticket products.
Nothing I sell is more than $997.
The only work I do is creating Instagram content, which takes me less than 1 hour a
day. I spend the rest of my day with my daughter. It’s heavenly.
So How Did I Do It?
1: Committment to go all in on the low-ticket products
Here’s an important lesson: you can’t do 5 things well. You can’t even really do 2 things
well. If you want to see uncommon results in your life (in this case, a business that is
nearly 100% passive!), you have to have uncommon focus.
So I knew I would have to go ALL IN on this low-ticket direction.
It was SCARY AF.
I actually was smack-dab in the middle of running a high-ticket mastermind at the time
($72k if they paid in full and a lot did!) It took a TON of courage to honor my intuition
and my gut instinct and close that mastermind down.
Of course, I refunded the customers and it was SO much cashflow out of the business
at all once. Scary. But I knew I had to go all-in.. so I did.
You need to go all-in too! Maybe you don’t have to process a scary amount of refunds in
order to make that happen.
Maybe for you, fully committing to this is just sticking with 1 offer for a year instead of
always switching things up?
Only you know what drastic decisions you need to make for you to go all-in and commit
to this direction. But you do have to commit or I promise this will not work.
2: Insane knowledge of your audience & what they want
If you don’t know what your followers want, your product launch will flop. I promise.
This can be as simple as setting up market research calls or honestly even just putting
up a poll on your IG stories.
I’ve done a LOT of marketing over the last decade and here’s what I’ve noticed: the
masters are the ones who know their customers inside and out. They know their
customers better than their own wives, lol. (Not endorsing but definitely observing facts.)
If you are guessing or hoping your product takes off, it won’t. You have to be sure. And
the only way you can be sure is by knowing your people inside out and out.
3: Commitment to consistent content creation
This is the only piece of the puzzle that isn’t truly passive. You do have to create
content…daily.
But think about it this way, I create 2 pieces of Instagram content & then I’m done for the
day. It takes me an hour AT MOST.
And I usually make around $4000 per day. So it’s basically like I’m getting paid $2000
per content, which isn’t a bad deal.
You can create content on any platform you want but it needs to be consistent & it
needs to be whatever is considered “a lot” on that platform.
For example, a lot of Instagram content is 2 pieces of content per day vs. on Youtube a
lot of content is around 3 videos a week.
You should only post on 1 platform if you have less than 100,000 followers on that
platform. (Ex: I grew my Facebook group to 300,000 members & now I am growing my
IG platform.)
4: Mastering the order bump & cross-sell
The last piece of the puzzle you have to implement is the “cross-sells” and “order
bumps”. These are basically the digital version of McDonald’s, “Would you like fries &
drink with that burger?”
The burger = the first & initial product they wanted to buy.
Making the burger deluxe = an order bump (bumping the value of the INITIAL order)
Adding fries & a drink = cross-sells.
Let’s do an actual example:
First Digital Low-Ticket Product: “24 Courses for $24 Dollars”
Order Bump: Learning Dashboard To Help Them Implement Those 24 Course: $97
Cross-Sell: 300 Pages of Content Pre-Written That Relates to the 24 Courses: $197
Inital order total without order bump & cross-sells: $24
New order total with all bumps/cross-sells: $318.
THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE YOUR BIG BUCKS!! Do you see the difference there?
I get $400+ orders ALL THE TIME because of order bumps & cross-sells. This is one of
the BIG secrets no one else shares…because it’s the thing that actually makes a
low-ticket business model work well.
